Playful polka dots pattern this classic silk shirtdress. The softly tailored top tucks behind a pleated, paper-bag waist, and the placket buttons from the fold-over collar to the swirling hem. On-seam hip pockets lay at the hips. Lined at skirt.

Fabric: Gabardine.
Shell: 100% silk.
Lining: 100% polyester.

Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss launched her collection in 1998 because she was unable to find wearable, beautiful clothes for her body type. "I could never find a halter dress or strapless top that offered support for women who usually need to wear a bra," she says. Would have been 5 stars if...
I love shirt dresses, so when I saw this one in a dressier silk fabric, I had to have it. It certainly did not disappoint, because it fits beautifully and can easily take me from day to night. My main complaint with this is that it's lined with polyester. WHY???? why make the shell of the dress in such beautiful, luxurious silk, and then cheapen it all by lining it with a scratchy mesh polyester lining? It traps heat, doesn't feel good against the skin, and gets all clammy in warmer weather. NOT HAPPY about this at all. But I love everything else about the dress, so I may just have to take it to the tailor and spend a small fortune to have the lining removed. Also, just wanted to add that the tops of the sleeves near the shoulders seem to be running on the tighter side, so if you have muscular arms, be warned.
