Designer James Perse found his calling in fashion when he designed the perfect baseball cap and sold it in his father's LA boutique. When movie directors wanted the caps for their cast and crew and record labels wanted them for tours, he decided to launch the James Perse collection. Perse next worked on creating the perfect T-shirt, and today is known for an array of luxe jersey essentials including dresses, tanks, and pants with a nod to the casual Southern California lifestyle.

not what i expected
this dress seemed different on the model. usually a size 2 in james perse, but this dress seemed big in the bust area. also it was also longer than expected. returned it because it wasn't like it is pictured.

You do the twisting
When I ordered this dress, I thought it was ruched. Not the case it is double layered jersey but can actually be much longer than shown in the pic. It is simply pushed up. Its really simulated ruching. The straps were also a bit long for me. Sent this one back.

Over-priced but SO comfortable
I was terrified of the length of this thing because I am so short but fortunately it can be manipulated/scrunched into varying lengths. The racer-back part of the dress was a little bit too big for me (5'1 96 pounds) but hopefully it will shrink. The material is very light weight but enough to be 'there' if that makes sense. The dress (white) is slightly see through but a nude bra is virtually invisible under it and if you are short you can strategically scrunch it so that you can't see any underwear underneath it. I tend to do the same with my American Apparel dresses. I feel this dress is incredibly over-priced for what it is but due to the versatility you can achieve with the scrunching I think it's worth keeping. The fact that it's incredibly comfortable also makes it a keeper.

Black is great, white is very sheer
I bought this as I am pregnant and I thought they would be fantastic summer staples. They are amazing! The length is great, just below the knee but they can be ruched higher. I got the black and the white, both in a size 2 (I'm a medium in most other brands) and the white one is SUPER see through. I tried it on with nude hanky pankys and it was a total no-go.

Sexy Dress
I am a minimalist and I really like dresses that aren't too fussy, yet fit well. This one did the trick. The only thing that I didn't like about it is that it was a little thin (you must wear sheer flesh tone intimate apparel underneath, unless you want your goodies to show!). I wore it with a great jacket and sexy platforms--but I also like that you can wear it in a casual setting as well.

Adore James Perse dresses.
Simple, classic and a great fit as always with James Perse. Double layered so no bra or underwear line showing but still thin enough to stay cool. I purchased the white size 2 and normally run a medium in most brands. This dress has lots of stretch and can be worn at different lengths. LOVE!
