British label Cambridge Satchel was born of necessity in 2008, when mother-daughter duo Freda Thomas and Julie Deane were searching for a way to raise money for school. Inspired by vintage Oxford and Cambridge school satchels and the bags in the Harry Potter films, they created a messenger that was both traditional and eclectic. The cross-body bag became a hit with fashion bloggers and the company now offers a range of sizes, styles, and wild colors. Cambridge Satchel bags define classic, with a twist.

Love the look not the space & durability
Appearance-wise, this was just what I wanted. It wasn't gigantic but inch-wise should have fit what I need. Unfortunately, the actual storage space inside the bag is built so that it's a really tight squeeze. (Large outside, tiny inside!) My sunglasses case (admittedly larger than a norm glasses case but hardly epic) barely fits and takes up a third of the bag. Fitting that, a wallet, and a loose powder in the bag was pushing maximum capacity. The leather is also very stiff--it practically gave me a paper cut, so there was no hope for give. Maybe the leather wears over time but I'm not going to find out since on the second day of use a bolt on the strap spray loose and broke. Couldn't have been the weight of what was inside as it was an empty Sigg bottle and a wallet. Very disappointed and I will be returning this item.
