About the Designer
The oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States, stepping into a pair of Frye boots is like stepping into history. The company was founded in 1863 and run for 50 years by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England. Frye boots have traveled with soldiers from America's Civil War through World War II, and in the 1960s the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, was reintroduced and soon rose to high demand. Today, Frye's boots still hold a place in American culture.

I have the Veronica shortie boots in whiskey, and have wanted a black pair since falling in love with those. I jumped at these when they came online - when the first pair had weird copper die streaks throughou the boots, I hoped it was a fluke, returned them, and ordered a second pair, only to have the second pair come with streaks as well! SO disappointed. Turns out, there IS a difference between these and the veronica shorties - different leather (soft vintage vs. stiff), the sole (all synthetic vs. some leather) and apparently the die job (beautiful black vs. streaky copper). Finally gave up on these and went elsewhere to find black shorties.
