Adele and Eduardo Fendi launched their namesake label from Rome in 1925 as a luxury fur and leather goods shop, but it wasn't until they passed it on to their five daughters 40 years later that things really started to take off. After appointing Karl Lagerfeld as chief designer, the sisters branched into ready-to-wear, a move that clinched the brand’s status as a one of the most influential houses in fashion. Throughout the years, the company became known for setting trends—often with coveted It-girl favorites, such as the wildly popular Fendi baguette bags of the ’90s, and “buggie” bag charms—but remains dedicated to certain signatures as well, like luxe coats, logo purses, and tortoiseshell sunglasses.
