Friends and fellow Parsons students Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie graduated from college with meatier resumes than most newbie designers. Their collective internship experience spanned New York City’s buzziest brands, including Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and Oscar de la Renta. Additionally, the pair earned the 2007 Parsons Designer of the Year award and runner-up spot (respectively), and a shared WWD cover story featuring their senior class collections. Riding the momentum of these successes, the pair joined forces one year after earning their diplomas to create Cushnie et Ochs, a label that combines not only their last names, but a shared love for sleek, body-conscious silhouettes. Over the years, a modern, femme fatale look has become the brand’s calling card. Cushnie et Ochs dresses, skirts, and crop tops are simple and understated—with enough come-hither details to turn heads.
