Knee-High Boots
Tall, leg-lengthening boots that add height (and instant chic factor) are stepping onto the style scene. Knee-high knockouts are sleeker than ever thanks to fresh renditions made from supple suede and luxe textured leather. This season, Shopbop Fashion Director Caroline Maguire has her eye on new fitted heeled styles from Isabel Marant and STAUD, and recommends wearing them with everything from ankle-grazing skirts to tailored, Bermuda-style shorts.
Dress Boots
Found: polished pairs primed for your next date night (& way beyond). From streamlined sock styles to minimal kitten heels & sleek pointed toes, these understated silhouettes lend an elegant edge to any look. Fall’s latest It boots come from quintessentially cool labels like Acne Studios, Black Suede Studio and 3.1 Phillip Lim, according to Maguire. And as for failproof ways to wear them? She suggests showing some leg with a midi dress and heeled boots on still-warm days—then swapping in your favorite denim when temps cool down.

Block-Heel Boots
Earning their status as MVP (most versatile pair) of the boot bracket, ankle booties are trusty staples you can count on season after season. The stacked-heel shoe has that magical goes-with-everything-in-your-closet factor, from mini skirts with tights (which Maguire cites as a must-try pairing) to essential denim & chunky sweaters. As for brands rebooting the beloved silhouette best, Maguire suggests checking out fresh takes from Loeffler Randall.
Western Boots
These Y2K comebacks have major staying power, and the proof is on the cowboy boot-clad feet of style-setters everywhere. Fall’s right-now renditions favor the slick & streamlined, marrying classic details like angular toes and stacked heels with high-shine leather or reptile uppers. In true frontier fashion, Western-inspired boots look best paired with “relaxed denim that you can tuck into your boot” according to Maguire, who pegs pairs from Isabel Marant and STAUD as the ones to add to your wardrobe this season.

Flat Boots
If you’re after comfort without sacrificing style, look no further than low-profile boots. From timeless Chelsea pairs that look chic with everyday staples, to lug-soled moto styles that give any outfit extra edge, the options are endless. This fall, taller mid-calf iterations are trending—with the added bonus of miles-long legs. When it comes to styling of-the-moment flat boots, “anything goes” says Maguire, who suggests teaming them up with flowy maxis for a dressier take, or showing them off with the season’s cropped, ankle-baring denim.
