Designer
Fashion veteran Diane von Furstenberg arrived fresh on the NYC fashion scene in 1970, armed with a friendship with Vogue editor Diana Vreeland and 12 shirtdresses she'd made in Italy. By 1976, von Furstenberg had already gained renown in the fashion sphere with the invention of her iconic wrap dress. With vintage-inspired prints and feminine silhouettes, every DVF design is built to flatter the woman who wears it: a philosophy that has become von Furstenberg's legacy and her gift to the women of the world.

"When's the baby due?" (Impossibly Bad)
This is the WORST dress I've ever tried on. And it made me look about 30 pounds heavier than I am. I love DVF, the dresses in particular, but this one is impossibly bad. In-person, the color is awful (think of the most unflattering burnt orange; it's like an icepick to the eye) and it just goes downhill from there. Worst of all is the the horrible, unbelievably hideous fit. I don't know what body type this cut could possibly flatter. Not only does it look and feel like a maternity nightgown, it also manages to at once be both ginormous and snug. The back is especially horrifying. If you have ANY body issues do NOT try on this dress. The bottom layer is fitted which trumpets the bottom and then there's this swath of material that hangs oddly and doubled in-width my size 6 bottom. Horrified, I called one of my friends -- an artistic director for an upscale department store -- and she said the dress looked so bad on the mannequin, it was removed from the display. It's heinous.
