Designer
Designer James Perse found his calling in fashion when he designed the perfect baseball cap and sold it in his father's LA boutique. When movie directors wanted the caps for their cast and crew and record labels wanted them for tours, he decided to launch the James Perse collection. Perse next worked on creating the perfect T-shirt, and today is known for an array of luxe jersey essentials including dresses, tanks, and pants with a nod to the casual Southern California lifestyle.

Slimming
I have this dress in black and didn't order it on shopbop but thought i'd review it here anyway. It's incredibly slimming, sucks me in and the ruching hides flaws in the belly/hip region. I really love this dress. The fabric is gorgeous, lightweight but not see through. I have a sz 2 and I'm usually a sz 1 in James tshirts. Love it!

Great fit, fabric, color, length but its a nice cocktail dress with a strange tshirt top, doesnt really work with the neckline/sleeves

Sexy, and effortless
This dress has an amazing fit. Hugs curves perfectly for a real sexy look and feel. The color is true to pic. And lovely. Easy to wear, super comfy and super sexy!
5'6 113 lbs. went with a size 0.

Nice, but...
It feels very overpriced for the fabric. The neckline on the one I received doesn't quite lay flat and it feels like a cheap t-shirt. But the overall fit is amazing, very va-va-voom with how it highlights the figure. Form-fitting but not overly tight and runs true-to-size (I am typically a size 1 in James Perse: 5'3, 105lbs, 34b). The Tempest color is nice too - kind of a muted bluish grey in person. I'd love to keep it, but at almost $200 I feel like the fabric should be a better quality. I may wait for it to go on sale.
