The oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States, stepping into a pair of Frye boots is like stepping into history. The company was founded in 1863 and run for 50 years by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England. Frye boots have traveled with soldiers from America's Civil War through World War II, and in the 1960s the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, was reintroduced and soon rose to high demand. Today, Frye's boots still hold a place in American culture.

Not quite right, sadly
Don't get me wrong... Frye boots are the gorgeous leather and beautifully made, but I can't seem to find a pair that are quite what I am looking for. These did not come up the calf enough- I was really after a riding height rather than a cowboy height, if that makes sense?? I'm 5ft 6 . Also, the toe is very long or longer than expected. Size wise I wear a UK6.5 and ordered the US8.5, so I would say they are a good half to full size larger than other brands- a common feature of all Frye's in my experience. Calf width wise they are probably 15 inches or so. I really wanted to like these but sadly I sent these back. My hunt for the perfect Frye continues! I opted for ASH Shot Bis biker style boots instead in a size 40 and they are perfect!

My first Fryes
I tried this on in person and fell in love, but I am in Canada and the store near me sells it for $150 more so I happily snapped this up during the Black Friday sale. However, once I received them, I was disappointed to realize the one from Shopbop is a shiny finish as opposed to the matte leather in the store. Nonetheless, they are well crafted boots. A bit stiff at first, but after a few wears with thick socks I can feel them breaking in already. Although I appreciate the slight non-slip treaded sole, it is not enough to keep me from slipping to my butt in our Canadian winters. I'd hate for the salt to ruin them anyway. Lookwise these are the best riding boots style I've found. Qualitywise, these are beautiful and timeless boots, but get them in matte black leather if you can. It's just less Santa Claus/ Mounted Police.

Great Boots
I really wanted a pair of flat black Tory Burch boots for this winter. I tried pretty much every style she made. None of them were comfortable in the ankles (too stiff, so they cut my ankles) and too narrow in the calf. (I don't have large calves and have never had problems fitting into any other boot, including the high-heeled Tory Burch Jess boot). Putting on these Frye boots after torturing myself with Tories was like stepping into a dream. The leather is the usual high-quality from Frye. It looks great and is super comfortable to wear. I have other Frye boots in a 7.5, ordered 7.5s and they fit perfectly. I don't know why I wasting my time with Tory when these were here waiting for me!

Worth to buy
Nice boots! high quality leather, well made, comfortable. But you need choose size carefully. I've got wide calves (15 in) and feet (4in) and they fit perfectly, but bit long, so there's some space for toes. If you have small calves and feet it's better to size down. I would also warn that to put them on is REALY hard work, but I hope they'll stretch with time, still like these boots.

so good!
I LOVED the look of these boots compared to all other Frye's. I ordered the Redwood and it's the PERFECT brown color, not too dark (I'm not down with chocolate brown) and not too light (I'm over the cognac/caramel color). The boot was definitely a doozy to get on (tough to get your heel past the ankle) but these are 100% leather and WILL stretch with time. I've worn them my around the house and they have already loosened up a bit. I read a lot of reviews stating to size down but if you plan on wearing normal socks with these, stick with your regular size. I'm an 8 and ordered the 8, they are perfect. You don't want boots too tight, they need to be roomy! I tried on the Paige in store and they have NO arch support. The Lindsay hugs your foot and has great arch support (I have a fairly high arch). I also got these on killer discount during their Thanksgiving Event. I'm so happy, thank you SHOPBOP for the perfect boot!! PS - shipping was insanely quick :)

Polished and refined boots
These boots are beautiful, just not what I was looking for. The leather is glossy and the shaft is quite stiff. Of course they would break in over time but I was looking for something with more of a rugged look. I have rather small calves (5'4 118lbs) and the boot fit great except for around the ankle -- they looked large due to the boot being so stiff.

nice boote but SIZE DOWN
These boots are definitely run a size bigger. I bought them for my sister who is a 7 and they were way too big for her. Also, my sister is 5'3" and the shaft of the boot was almost too high, hitting awkwardly at the knee joint. Other than that they are clearly well made and worth the investment if you get the right size

Beautiful Boots
I love these boots, I haven't had much time to wear them but I think they are beautiful. I have purchased Fryes in the past and they have been tight on my calves and my ankles, these were more roomy but still fit.
