NOT madewell
The color doesn't bother me, but the STRAPS. THEY ARE SO ROUGH on the shoulder side!! It's going to cut your skin or something if you're wearing a sleeveless shirt. It's ridiculous. Since it's so rough, I assume you won't be able to wear, say, a cashmere sweater, if you want to carry this bag...it'll probably just stay tangled on your shoulder. I don't understand the design. Why can't they make the inner side of the straps as smooth as the outer?? It's UNCOMFORTABLE to have a rough, bumpy surface against your skin.
The leather quality seems mediocre, but I do like the bright red.

Color comes off?!
I like the bag at first sight..
but the color comes off! took it out to brunch, was wearing white jeans, and now i see red on jeans.
the size of the bag is large enough to fit my cosmetic bag, keys, phone, book, etc.
sadly, bag is poorly made

Odd shape
I was so happy to receive the bag until I wore it out. The bag does not hold its shape well, so as a result the corners flop weirdly inward and that doesn't look flattering on me. The quality of the leather is acceptable, but not great...after a while the color at the bottom of the bag kinda rubs off...? or perhaps that's what happens with most leather bags?

Disappointed...
I really want to love this bag, because the red color is so vibrant. However, the quality of the leather is disappointing - I've had way better leather bags at a similar price tag. It seems to me that making bags isn't Madewell or J crew's forte.

a nice shopper
I got this bag in tan color. I really like how it looks like, I definitely knew what to expect, as I am familiar with Madewell handbags. I need to say it is not that slouchy, super soft high quality leather, however it does not bother me much, because hey, the price is ok for such a leather bag and it looks really good, it is a great shopper. I'm happy with this purchase.
