The oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States, stepping into a pair of Frye boots is like stepping into history. The company was founded in 1863 and run for 50 years by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England. Frye boots have traveled with soldiers from America's Civil War through World War II, and in the 1960s the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, was reintroduced and soon rose to high demand. Today, Frye's boots still hold a place in American culture.

Larger than Expected
My first pair of Frye boots, love the excellent quality of the leather. The color appear more like black to me, with bronze shading at the foot area. Bought a size 8.5, a little too large for me. But I think it's ok if I wear thick socks and add in a shoe padding. Can't wait to put this on for my honeymoon trip to Europe next month!

Truly beautiful, but...
I bought these boots on a whim knowing that they would be excellent quality (an innate quality of all Frye boots). They were beautiful black leather upper with bronze shading nearer to the foot. They fit perfectly. However, I was looking for a little more refined boot and this was too far on the rustic side for me. The shaft was too wide and a bit too slouchy (I don't consider myself to have thin calves either). So, long story short I returned them because they were too casual for what I wanted. Nevertheless, if you are looking for incredibly comfortable and casual boots that will last forever these are the boots for you.

Bronze boots
Love these boots! They are very comfortable. I'm usually between an 8 and 8.5. Got the 8 and I still have some room in them, but the 7.5 may have been too tight in the heel (I step in and out of the heel when I walk, but I think that's common with lug soles). The color is described in writing as black and they are brown in the picture. They're actually more of a bronze color with both brown and black accents. This makes them different and pretty and neutral to wear with brown or black. Great purchase!
