Designer

Based in Italy and designed by Canadian twins Dean and Dan Caten, DSQUARED2 launched as a menswear line in 1994. The brotherly duo ventured into women's wear in 2003 after a fateful encounter with Madonna had them designing outfits for her 2002 Drowned World Tour. The brand has since remained connected to the music industry: Christina Aguilera and Rihanna have walked the DSQUARED2 runway. Stand Very, Very Still
Because if you plan on moving at all, expect to expose your backside. This skirt measures exactly 1.5" below my bottom (I used a tape measure because I was stunned at just how micro this mini is). Yes, at 5'10 I'm tall, but even still, this skirt is ridiculously short. However... I loved everything else about it. The material is substantial, but not thick, the zipper pocket detail is fun, and the neutral hue makes this a skirt pairable with so many different tops. The fit is true to size -- I ordered an 8 (I'm 142 lbs with a size 27.5 waist) -- and the back zipper slid easily right up into place. Because of its versatility and other winning details, I'm taking it to the tailor to have the hem lengthened by 2-3". My trusty tailor has told me she can either loosen the waist so it hangs lower and/or roll down the hem slightly to make it a much more wearable length. Adding $40 for tailoring, this is one expensive item, but I'm confident it'll be in heavy rotation this coming Fall/Winter.
