Not for everyone, but if you're nostalgic for classic nineties 'Carolyn Bessette' jeans like me, they're ideal. As another reviewer mentioned, they don't really make 100% cotton denim anymore, which is regrettable. I find that it's more flattering than stretch, since it suggests the form underneath rather than clings to it, and more forgiving to wear, especially in extreme hot or cold temperatures. These fit like a skinnier boyfriend if you go a size down (take your usual size if you want more slouch). They start out rigid but get super soft once you break them in. The straight leg and high rise are great. The lack of conspicuous holes or distressing is even better. I'm short and slim, but have squarish hips and a bit of a belly, and the rigid fabric gives me a more feminine shape.

I've been eyeing these booties for a while and finally bit the bullet during the Friends & Family Sale. Glad I did! I have big feet for my build, which makes finding boots that fit snugly around the ankle or have a pointed toe a major hassle. This shoe looks beautiful on, elegant not elongating! The onyx raffia upper with the contrast bottom feels summery and expensive. The heel height gives you a little lift but is comfortable to walk in. And there's a rubber disc protecting the leather sole, which will save you the money and pain of getting it reinforced by a cobbler. No negatives here, but I'm curious to see how this style holds up considering it is made of straw. Size wise, I'm usually an 8, occasionally a 7.5, and found the fit TTS (if in doubt, go up half a size). This is my first time buying Matt Bernson but probably not my last. Happy there's still mid-market brands out there that produce thoughtful designs and use high-quality materials!
