I normally take a Size 8 in Frye (Melissa Back Button Zip boots) because I wear thick socks in winter. I took an 8 in these and they were too large even with my socks. I think a 7.5 would have fit perfectly, although the width was the right size in the 8 and may have been a bit snug in a 7.5 The leather is stiff and thick, not at all soft or supple or pebbled, it has a nice insole that is very much like the Birkenstock insoles, and they are definitely a heavy, durable boot with a noticeable heel (I am used to very flat shoes / boots). I like the quality and even though it's half a size too large I'm going to add a Birkenstock insole to make it fit better and slide less because I like the width on the 8s. Great boot, made in the U.S. so I'm very pleased.

Very comfortable and fitted not tight
These are extremely comfortable. They're fitted but not tight, and the waist comes up quite high (which I like to avoid muffin top), plus it has a nice drawstring waist to cinch it if need be. The legs are not tight at all and I'm a US 4, and I took the size 1 which is a Small. I could have gone to a 0 or an XS but it may have been tighter. The material is light and soft but it is not fleeced inside or super cosy as you might expect sweatpants to be, they're more of a thin, comfortable cotton terry feeling.
