Made Well? Poorly made, more like it!
I normally wear size 8 shoes and my feet are slightly wide, so after reading the reviews, I ordered the boots both in my regular size and half a size larger. Had the size 8 pair been a bit wider, I'd say they were a perfect fit, but since they were slightly snug, I moved on to the 8.5s, instead. Still narrow, but slightly more comfortable than the size 8s. The problem isn't merely one of fit, but of workmanship: in the larger pair, it's apparent that the leather insoles that were used stop short of actually covering the interior, leading me to wonder if they simply slapped size 8 insoles onto size 8.5 shoes (as the shoes were made in Romania, I wouldn't be at all surprised). It feels as if the leather insoles in the larger pair are already starting to separate from the shoes themselves, leading me to worry that these shoes that I just purchased aren't long for this world. I find it highly ironical that shoes from a brand called 'Madewell' should be so poorly constructed.

Runs narrow and difficult to put on
As the shoes are assembled to European sizing standards, they are rather narrow in width. Also, given the lack of zips, buttons or buckles, they are extremely difficult/tricky to pull on, leading me to pass on them in favor of more user-friendly kicks.

Runs quite small to size
I'm not certain if the sizes listed above are actually British sizes or if the manufacturer has the product made to European sizing standards and then simply converts the Euro sizes to the purported American equivalent, but I find that a lot of these luxury denim brands tend to run small and are rather inconsistent in their sizing, and this brand is no exception. The garment runs small to size and the fit is very tight, so consider ordering a size or two larger than you normally would.

Fits small to size
I'm normally a true-to-size US 6, but lately I've gained some weight and am closer to a US 8 than a six, so I ordered these jeans in both the 30 and 31, to play it safe. Neither pair fit properly, which is strange because the size chart claims that a 30 fits US sizes 6-8 and 31 fits US 8-10. On a bright note, the denim feels quite soft and supple.
