FABULOUS!
Yes, pricey, but after trying it on, this is money well spent. This dress has the most amazing fit -- which I find to be true for almost every Kimberly Ovitz dress I own -- and the look is definitely "designer." The black base is splashed with muted reds and oranges, and the short in front, long in back is a trend I was avoiding, but after trying on this dress, am totally on-board with. But this dress' star quality is the back which is essentially open, save for a single vertical strap and another single horizontal strap, which intersect one another at the low back. To make this dress much more wearable, I put a black Cosabella cami (see review) underneath, but I'll definitely try it without the cami for a sexy date night. The cut around the bust is exposing -- the sides of the dress fit right at the sides of my breasts so some double-sided tape will likely be necessary without a cami or bra underneath. I love this dress; my favorite purchase of the season so far!

Adorable Fit, but...
I wish the first reviewer had posted her review of this dress before I ordered because I probably would have, at least, hesitated ordering. What I love about this dress are the top layers of ruffles (supposedly "silk," but if so, it's the roughest silk I've ever touched), the sweet polka dot pattern, and the fit which can only be described as totally adorable. This season is full of fitted maxi dresses and bodycon mini-dresses so this is a very fun deviation from that norm. The major drawback is the bottom layer that not only looks like, but literally feels like canvas. I assume the canvas is going to wrinkle like mad which will only be problematic if the "silk" ruffles wrinkle, too. If both layers wrinkle, the dress will look messy. Thus, I completely understand why the first reviewer chose the word "cheap" to describe this dress. However, when on, it looks much more expensive and well-made. I'm going to have to think on this one for a few days. Might keep; might return.

Cosabella Always Does It Just Right!
I own several items of lingerie from Cosabella and while they don't wear as well as you would expect for items at this price point, the fit is incomparable to most every other intimate brand. Cosabella's cotton -- all of their fabrics -- are so soft -- and I love how this particular cami fits like a second skin, but stays put. I absolutely hate the "roll-up" factor of fitted tanks and camis so if I can find a brand that stays where I want it to, it's worth paying a bit more to keep it in place. I ordered this to wear under the almost-backless Kimerbly Ovitz dress (see review) and it is a perfect combination.

The Epitome of Luxury
I purchased an Olcay Gulsen skirt and tank in the same silk material of this dress last Fall and I wore the skirt so many times so despite the cost of the dress, I knew it would be a great investment piece. This designer does "timeless" so well and if you buy an item that is a solid color, like this dress, it will surely wear beautifully across many years. I ordered this dress to wear to a cocktail party. I've only tried it on, but it fits like a glove (I'm 5'10, 144 lbs, 34C, 27.5" waist; I ordered a large), and the color is sumptious. It's slightly "peachier" in-person than in the photo, but it's just as gorgeous against my pale skin as it is against the more olive tone complexion of the photo model. Without question the slits on this dress are way too high (so 4, not five stars) so this is going to the tailor to add two inches of closure to each slit. I'm pairing with nude Jimmy Choo heels. I can already tell this dress is going to be in heavy rotation in my spring/summer wardrobe

With two other silk button-downs by this brand, this blouse was an easy purchase. I love anything black and white and the stars are a fun break from the more traditional stripes or polka dots. I'm pairing this with the ALC shorts I just got (see review) and then with many more pieces like skinny jeans and tailored black shorts. Equipment is great quality and killer style. For what you get in terms of versatility and quality, the price is very reasonable. Love these blouses!

J Brand Perfection
Nothing much more to say about any J Brand denim purchase other than these are another superb pair. These are incredibly dark -- which gives them that slightly dressier look -- and I love the barely there wrinkling around the zipper and pockets, but when it comes to J's, it's really all about fit and it doesn't get any better than these.

No... No... No, No.
I love Kimberly Ovitz, in particular the line's dresses, but this one was too short, too green (it's a bright green and black in-person when it looks black on charcoal black/perhaps very mossy green in the photo), and far too wintery for a late February purchase, especially considering the price point. Unfortunately, a rare return for me, but probably a fantastic buy for a petite girl who loves green!

Classic & Pretty, but Surprisingly Heavy
I purchased this romper to wear to a special event this weekend and the fit is superb. I ordered size 8 and the length is ideal for my 5'10 frame. The shorts are very short and the slit in the front stays separated so beware that this piece isn't as demure as the photo might suggest. Also, the material is heavier (almost "tweedy") than it looks in the photo, but that thickness does NOT carry over when on. Yea! The cutout in the back adds a touch of sexiness while still maintaining classic style. If you're buying this to wear the day it arrives partition time for steaming. I'm normally very happy with Shopbop's packing, but this is the 2nd time that an item has arrived folded to the point of absurdity, wrinkled beyond belief. Plus, the thickness of the material means it's going to take some serious time and patience to steam out the creases. It should've arrived folded once inside of a box, not folded a bajillion times to the size of an 8x10 square inside of a flimsy shipping wrapper.

Showgirl Legs
I love short shorts and these are the epitome of a great pair of short shorts. I always size up with shorts like these for three reasons: 1) I love them to ride very low on my hips; 2) I want the option of having enough room to tuck-in a blousy button-down; and 3) I never want to be that woman whose shorts are so short that her bottom is exposed. Sizing up always achieves this for me. I'm normally a 6 or 8 in ALC pants/shorts, but I ordered a 10 and they hit just where I wanted them to. If you want them to be fitted at your waist, order true to size. These are definitely dressier shorts given they're silk, but they can easily be dressed down by adding flat sandals and a more casual top. The very fact that they can be styled up for fancy time or down for a day of doing whatever is a major highlight of this brand & a prime reason why ALC is one of my favorite go-to designers. You can wear any ALC piece in so many different ways which makes the expense of the line much more justifiable.

Not "Jeans" -- Twill Pants
Perhaps wrongly, I associate "jeans" with some variation of denim and these are most definitely not denim. They're cotton twill pants. Still, I LOVE the fit and the look. These are incredibly sexy and the black panels (which don't look as black in-person as they do in the still photo) definitely give the impression of leather panels and details. I can't speak for anyone other than myself -- I'm 5'10, 144 lbs (and I wear a size 27-28 in almost all J-Brand styles) -- but the fit on most every J-Brand style is incomparable. Over the last couple of years, I've pretty much stopped buying anything other because I don't think there's a better fitting brand on me. The only reason I gave these four instead of five stars was because I was expecting a true jean, but I'm still loving these regardless of the material. And you can handwash them cold instead of dry cleaning. I love having that option!
