Few Photos; For Fashion Book Collectors
A nice price and some very good advice. However, most of what is contained in the book is likely old news to those drawn to such books. As an additional point, the book contains only a few actual photos (with the author modeling in these or no model at all). Instead, the majority of images are drawn - almost cartoon-like. Perhaps this will make the images in the book remain relevant longer; however, I prefer more realistic images. For me, a copy of "InStyle" or "Glamour" containing an article on closets is as useful or maybe even more so than this book. I am glad to have it though as it is a nice book to add to my collection of such books and it looks cool on the bookshelf with the other fashion books.

Great gift
Good ideas, thinking of purchasing one for myself.

Boring
There is nothing new or revolutionary in this book. The most useful advice it gives is to give away things you don't wear (duh) and to color-code your clothing, neither of which requires having a book written about it. There are a bunch of arbitrary lists squeezed into the pages that don't serve much of a purpose either. Finally, I felt as if it were written for conservative dressers--the author tells you to step out of your comfort zone by buying funky items, but what about those of us who already wear prints/colors/etc?

Products?
Neat little book. Wish the products in it were a bit more reasonably priced and accessible, then I might actually take their advice.

Great book
I bought this book in hopes of finally being able to clean out my closet. We women are all packrats when it comes to our clothes and shoes, but this book really helped me clear out what I was holding on to for the wrong reasons. So if you're struggling with the same thing or if you just want to reorganize I would really recommend this.

Great Photos & Well Researched
In my humble opinion, overall a 5/5: PRO: The number & quality of images is first-rate. PRO: The book has a personal touch since the author discusses personal fashion influences, from childhood to the present (including images of family, friends, and herself). PRO: The organization, selected images, & descriptions helped me define my style better than ever before. PRO: The author has researched the topic at a PhD level, from old Hollywood starlets (e.g., Jean Harlow) to modern day icons. PRO: Dorothy Dandridge is included in the book. I've often wondered why Dandridge does not receive the same fashion icon status as Audrey Hepburn. She deserves it. About time. CON: I do not share the author's love of fur. The author advocates for fur. This is in direct opposition to my own ideological views. I wish she loved faux-fur instead. CON: Angelina Jolie is included & I don't quite understand why. All other inclusions are right-on IMHO.

So many photos!!!
I ordered this book as a present to my friend. But now I am planning to order it for myself! I liked the quality of paper; the book contains chapters on different styles and shopping; all styles are illustrated by tons of photos; some pages are devoted to real icons in fashion! Love the book!

Inspirational
This book is fantastic. Broken up by style it really helps you focus on the details that create your look. It also provides inspiration to try new looks and how to achieve them. Love the reference photos from each era and look. Another great addition to my ever growing pile of design/fashion books.

just ok
Cute idea, but a bit smaller and less impact than I had hoped for. I purchased this as a gift for a friend and would probably browse the books at Anthropology first next time instead.

Nice
Beautiful book. However, Shopbop should price this the same as Amazon considering they are now under same ownership. I called and was pleased to have the price corrected.

Outdated
First off I have to say that I am a huge fan of classic and elegant stye, but I felt that this book is completely outdated. Claiming that girls under 17 should not wear earrings, and nobody should wear heels taller than 2.5 inches regardless of your height? I feel like I could not relate to this book at all. The turquoise cover is beautiful though.
